8 Tips to Make the Most of your Content Machine

Your firm may be a ‘content powerhouse’, but are you making the most of your content?

There are many ways to boost your distribution, reuse and repurpose your content so that it can be leveraged. Here’s our top tips that will help you make the most of your content machine.

1.    Use plain language

One of the most important things that you can do in content marketing is using plain language. Yes, you’re an expert. Yes, there are terms that specifically relate to your specialisation. But, ‘no’, not everyone understands them. And if they don;t understand them, they won’t read your article, learn what you do, understand how it relates to their situation and make contact for your help! Instead of complicated tech jargon, just speak using everyday, conversational language.. By doing so, you’ll be able to attract and resonate with a much larger audience.

2.    Identify and use evergreen content

This content type never gets old nor does it lose relevance. It might seem like a bad idea at first, but repurposing and reusing old content is a great strategy that can improve your brand and lead generation. Not everyone reads everything they see, so it may not be until the third or fourth time your content rolls across their screen that they have the time, or are in the situation, to read it.

3.    Publish everywhere

Follow this simple rule each time you make some content: create once, publish everywhere, but adjust it to fit the platform where you’re posting it. Different people reference different media for their pleasure, research and down time, so different publishing platforms make your content accessible.

4.    Specialise and never forget your target audience

No content marketing campaign can be successful if it tries to target everyone. You need to specialise in a particular type and target a specific kind of audience that’s unique to your industry or specialisation.

5.    Data and analytics are important

Marketers have a vast amount of information at their disposal – they only need to use it. There’s a bunch of data that’s available to you. By using analytics, you can quickly discover what type of material will work for your brand and your target audience.

6.    Your team is your most valuable resource

If you have a team – then use it. Don’t work in isolation. Your firm will have much more effective marketing and engagement if your entire team is using social media to spread the word.

7.    Always use hashtags

Hashtags are a powerful tool on social media today, and you should use them to your advantage when sharing your content. Bonus tip: incorporate them in the body of your post instead of at the end, and use no more than two or three per post as a lot of them will annoy your audience.

8.     Make good headlines and incorporate visuals

Headlines are the most crucial part of your content as those attract your audience more than the text itself. There are plenty of tools that can help you find the most popular types of headlines (hint: how-to, why, and list articles always work well). Additionally, visuals also quickly attract an audience like headlines, so you need to use them as well.

These are in our opinion the essential tips you need to be aware when trying to become a content powerhouse. If you manage to incorporate all of them, you’ll be well on your way to having the best content marketing strategy you ever had.
